Elaine Roesle's Snow Children
are a new collecting interest, but I'm finding myself really
taken by their charm. Elaine, her mother, and daughter
work in their Ohio studio creating Snow Children ornaments,
figurines, and accessories, as well as a line of traditional
Santa figures known as the St. Nicholas Collection.
Everything, including the earthenware heads, hands, and feet, is
made by them in their small cottage industry. Elaine
proudly proclaims, "made in the U.S.A." to her
admirers. I would highly recommend Elaine's work for
anyone not familiar with it. You can find more information
at her web site at www.stnicholascollection.com |

Yes, I added to my
growing "family" of Snow Children...nine new members
in 2004. They are all pictured in the full group photo
below. Elaine Roesle has had an Open House at her Ohio
workshop in November, when she introduces new items not
available from retailers. Regrettably, I haven't been able
to attend, but I have requested items in advance. I have
been able to select from very limited quantities of certain
pieces. In some cases, I have the only one of its kind, or
one of only two. The Snow Children are the products of
American hands, which makes them a truly special collectible. |
